IT Cloud Services: I Just Nod

January 28th, 2012 . by admin

I recently hired a computer expert for my business. I don’t understand computers or computer systems so when he talks to me I just nod. Today he said something about IT cloud services. I acted like I knew what he was talking about. I think that I have heard the term before but that does not mean that I know what it is. I trust what he thinks so if he wants to do something then he should do it.

The car care software I am considering

January 28th, 2012 . by admin

I did a bit of painting this weekend. I have been putting this task off for a long time and I just wanted to get it done. I stopped being task orientated some time ago. Because of this I had to change the way I do things. One of the thoughts I had while painting was about the car care software my friend Jon told me about the week before last. Jon has used this software to keep up his cars and the maintenance that surrounds them. I am now thinking that this was the kind of thing I need to do.

Privacy vs Voter Security

January 28th, 2012 . by admin

biometric user authentication, user authentication, identification technology, authentication software

A lot of controversy has been swirling around the electronic voting options and identification of voters in various elections not only in third world countries where corruption is rampant but also in much more highly developed areas such as the United States itself. There has been a recent push by some legislators to force a type of biometric user authentication technology on the populous, but this request has not been met with universal approval and a number of people and groups have raised concern over the various privacy issues that might be a result of such technology.

But preventing fraud in elections has become quite a hot ticket in recent years and many legislators are looking for the best ways to reduce it, especially in a year of a presidential election. There is an interesting divide on the issue, however, that seems to come down on lines of party as it has been suggested that the majority of people who do not have identification are poor and are more likely to vote on the democratic side of the fence and that anyone with money is likely a republican and would be able to provide identification without any issues.

This is where ideas of biometric identification have come into play, because requiring such a type of identification could create a more standardized option for identification, even if there were some privacy concerns that resulted from such a practice. So far there has not been an overall agreement by any group regarding the best way to identify voters.

Are Tablets the New Netbooks?

January 27th, 2012 . by admin

netbooks, tablets, netbook reviews

Tablets like the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab are taking the mobile computing world in a storm. Due to their highly mobile nature and extensive hardware, they are quickly becoming a replacement for a market netbooks had sought to take over. While the netbook is much more compact compared to its bulkier laptop cousin, tablets are quickly becoming the better option from a performance standpoint.

Hardware

You can purchase netbooks with high-performance hardware, yet this can oftentimes rival tablets in price. Hardware may boost performance of your netbook in some regards, but the tablet will still be faster. Hardware will always be a differentiating feature among tablets and netbooks, yet it will ultimately come down to how the product performs in the end. A netbook may have better hardware, yet the operating system may be the hindering factor in terms of performance.

Performance

From a performance standpoint, while netbooks may be able to run more complex applications than tablets, they still suffer from the constraints of the operating system. As most netbooks run the Windows operating system, there are countless processes running in the background. The end result of this is less performance to apply toward the applications you actually want to use.

Tablets run on much more mobile operating systems that give users more flexibility in the applications they run. While the operating system may be more restrictive in terms of multitasking, there are fewer processes bogging down tablets’ performance. Netbooks offer some flexibility that tablets cannot match when it comes to the variety of software and customization options.

Mobility

Tablets have become the epitome of mobility in the world of computing. They are the size of a small paper notepad and are instantly accessible at any moment. Netbooks, on the other hand, must boot up each time you need to use them. The Apple iPad weighs just over one pound, whereas most netbooks are at least three pounds, which can make them slightly more unwieldy on the go.

Pricing

For the moment, netbooks still remain the more economical option. These can get as low as $200 in price, which is half the price of standard tablets presently. However, as tablets begin to become more common and the manufacturing price drops, these are certain to match netbooks within the next few years.

The big selling point for tablets is the app stores. With netbooks, you won’t find such luxury as $1 software in large quantities. Tablets, on the other hand, have access to thousands of applications that fill a wide range of needs for a low price. Software for netbooks on the other hand can get quite expensive.

There is a reason that Dell recently announced its plans to drop its line of netbooks. Tablets are the solution to the modern consumer’s needs. They’re highly mobile and easy to use, making them the ideal solution for both new and intermediate users in today’s business world. Our netbook reviews will provide some insight on the versatility of these devices, but you should also consider tablets as they are proving to be the better option.

Network and Computer Systems Administrators Keep a Company Functioning

January 27th, 2012 . by admin

A common IT staffing need is that of network and computer systems administrators. These professionals are responsible for watching over an organization’s computer systems. They install necessary software and hardware while also providing technical support to ensure that the computer systems operate properly. Most organizations that use network systems need a network and systems administrator to test the system’s performance and ensure that the system meets the needs of the organization. For example, the administrators must ensure that networks operate smoothly so that the organization can operate efficiently. When the network malfunctions, the administrator is responsible for troubleshooting the problem and administrators must also ensure that networks and databases remain secure.
